I feel there are at least three qualities that make me a good Photographer. First I hate having my photo taken. I would rather have a root canal. I’m uncomfortable in front of the camera, worrying about my wrinkles and double-chin. But behind the camera, I’m able to put my clients at ease capturing approachable and friendly images they are happy with and enjoy sharing. All purchased portraits are edited and enhanced so everyone looks their best.
Secondly, I understand the value of a photo. After my partner died suddenly of a heart attack, I found I had trouble seeing his face without holding a photo. As time has passed his photos have become priceless to me. That is why I especially enjoy taking family photos and capturing unique moments in time for my clients.
Third I love working with people. I have worked as a Hospital Dietitian/Department Head and also an Elementary Teacher. I taught school in Maine before moving to Port Townsend in 1990. I've owned a basket-making business, selling and teaching basket-making. In 1995 I started Deja View Photography. Today I specialize in professional headshots, families, and event photography.

I love the connections I make with my clients. Over the years these friendships have often led to photographing celebratory family events like weddings, family portraits, reunions, and anniversaries.
I'm currently photographing headshots and family photos following safe Covid guidelines. You can reach me, Deja, at Deja View Photography (360) 385-2662 to schedule a session. You can also email me at [email protected]
