Port Townsend Engagement Session at Fort Worden.

This last weekend Annie and Tom were married in Hawaii. I had the pleasure of working with this lovely couple back in July of last year. At the time I photographed them, here in Port Townsend, they were living in the Tacoma area but right after their engagement session, they relocated to Nebraska.

The young man, who was based out of Joint Lewis McChord, hired me to photograph a surprise engagement session for his girlfriend out at Fort Worden. A friend helped me scope out, in advance, the best spots for good evening light, what the tides were at if we ended up on the beach, wind speed direction, as well as the angle of the setting sun. All these calculations were taken to pull off the perfect surprise session. I watched as the couple arrived at the Fort and worked their way toward the Point Wilson Lighthouse. Tom maneuver them into position in front of the Lighthouse and we waited for several groups of families to pass. It was the 4th of July weekend and I worried there might be too many people to pull off the session. I stood on a knoll pretending to be photographing the Lighthouse but actually captured him dropping to one knee with the ring in hand.

It was a lovely moment and afterward, we took lots of fun photos all around Point Wilson. What a lovely event to be part of and what an honor to capture this special moment for them. I think I have the greatest job ever. I thought in honor of their wedding last Saturday I thought it would be fun to post some of my favorites from their session.

Thank you to Tom for sharing this nice Review on my Google page. "Deja was truly a blessing to work with and exceeded our expectations in every category. She captured our proposal and presented us with photos that we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives. As if planning a proposal isn’t daunting enough, Deja went ‘above and beyond’ and put my mind at ease by scouting out the location in the days prior to ensure conditions were perfect. She then presented recommendations based on weather, tide, natural light (based on time of day), and possible locations to get down on one knee. Prior to this trip, I have never been to Port Townsend and the on-site photo examples definitely helped me decide where to propose. Bottom line, Deja is professional, personable and a darn good photographer. We couldn’t be happier with the quality of her work and we 100% recommend Deja!
